Man looks up Google Streetview and finds heartwarming image of late gran

A man received an emotional response from users on Twitter after spotting two members of his family on Google Street View.

Twitter users were left emotional by the story after the man’s gran and grandad could be seen on the app leaving their house together.

Street View allows users to go down a street and view it as though they were on the street itself instead of viewing it as a map, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Streets which have the feature show up on Google Maps with a blue line, meaning users can take a closer look at the road.

Cars operated by the company regularly photograph streets, with the photos then being stitched together for the display, with images sometimes being updated.

However, users can also view older images of a street while browsing the service.

This led Mike Doyle from Liverpool to make a touching discovery when he came across a picture of his grandad heading out of the house alongside his late gran.

Sharing the snap on Twitter, Mike said: “My Nan passed away in 2015, so it’s great to see Google Maps have recently added a feature to see old street views, like this one of her going out with my Grandad in 2012.

“My Grandad still lives on to this day, at 90 and he’ll be made up when I show him this.”

Twitter users were quick to reply, with many being touched by the story. Layla said: “Love this Mike” with a tearful emoji, while James said: “Amazing”. Clare Cooney said “That is so cute xx”, and Kath said: “Ah Mike that’s boss”.

Ken said: “Thank you for posting this, I’ve just put my old address into it and there’s my dad up a ladder outside the house, I lost him almost 8 years ago and it’s absolutely made my day!”
